Suzanne Lerner is an entrepreneur, political activist and philanthropist.
In 1977, Suzanne founded Lerner et Cie, a national fashion sales company. When Suzanne met her soon-to-be husband Michael Cohen, the two co-founded Michael Stars. With Suzanne now running the day-to-day operations as Co-founder/Executive Vice President, the company has transformed into a contemporary lifestyle brand offering both women’s and men’s fashion collections.
Suzanne’s passion for giving back is evident through the Michael Stars Foundation. The Foundation has supported a variety of charities including Joyful Heart Foundation, Ms. Foundation, Children Mending Hearts and WE ADVANCE, a non-profit co-founded by Maria Bello to advance the health and well-being of women in Haiti. With the help of Suzanne, WE ADVANCE launched weadvanceu.org, an online education portal with instructional videos for Haitian women and their families.
Beyond her career with Michael Stars and Lerner et Cie, Suzanne also funds many non-profits and serves on the board of Women Thrive Worldwide, ACLU Foundation of Southern California and Prosperity Catalyst.
Suzanne’s commitment reaches far beyond financial support. She has spent her entire life as an activist and frequently travels to Haiti in an effort to assist with women’s economic sustainability and political empowerment. She believes that, “The more empowered women and girls are, the more all of us can positively achieve.”
