Making gender equality a reality.

Women and Gender in the QDDR

Published on:   May 20, 2015

In April 2015, the U.S. State Department released its second Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR). The QDDR is an assessment of all U.S. diplomatic and poverty-focused foreign assistance efforts, as well as a comprehensive strategic blueprint for priorities in diplomacy and development moving forward.

Gender equality is not a main pillar in this year's QDDR, as it was in 2015. This publication takes a look at the 2015 QDDR and how women and gender factor in to its priorities, and why the QDDR is a lost opportunity for solidifying and expanding gains made over the past four years on gender equality and female empowerment.
